What is Direct Contracting?

Direct Contracting — also known as Global & Professional Direct Contracting (GPDC) — is a new alternative payment model from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) that encourages primary care physicians (PCPs) and other eligible professionals to shift away from fee-for-service (FFS) to value-based payments in primary care.

GPDC also enables the creation of Direct Contracting Entities (DCEs), which help providers participate in Direct Contracting.
