At Pearl Health, a lot of the most important work happens quietly — behind the scenes, in the background, making everything run just a little more smoothly. That’s where Zane Wruble shines. As Senior Manager of Customer Success Operations, Zane helps design and scale systems that turn complex data into clear actions — for teams, for providers, and ultimately, for patients.
We sat down with Zane to hear how she thinks about impact, the invisible work of operations, and what it means to make order out of chaos.
First, the basics — how would you describe what you do at Pearl?
I do operations for our Customer Success team — so for someone in the tech or revenue world, I’d say it’s a revenue operations role, but for our post-sales, customer-facing teams. For my family, I usually just say, “I make things work better.” I get stuff done, push things forward, and play a lot of traffic cop — making sure everything is where it’s supposed to be so we can make order out of chaos. But with the Customer Success team as my anchor point.
What brought you to Pearl in the first place?
I was looking for something new. I’ve worked in biotech and healthcare my entire career, and Pearl’s mission and company stage stood out to me — helping to change the system to reward better outcomes and helping the company build systems and processes along the way. So I hit apply, and the rest is history.
What stood out during the interview process — and proved to be true after you joined?
I got to meet a lot of different people from across the business, which gave me a solid picture of how the company actually worked. Interviewing didn’t feel like a big, repetitive process for the sake of process — it felt like people genuinely wanted to get to know me and understand what I had to offer.
Something that really stood out was the number of women in leadership roles. I met with Holly, Lauren, Jen, and Liz — and it was just a stacked deck of strong women in positions of leadership. That’s something I hadn’t seen at other companies, and as a woman in her mid-thirties, it was a big reason I felt confident choosing Pearl.
How would you describe the people at Pearl?
Everyone’s smart, driven, collaborative — the usual startup demographic. But what I really appreciate is how we’re all a little nerdy in our own way. People here have niche interests, real intellectual curiosity, and actual lives outside of work. It’s not your typical startup culture. It’s much more unique.
What’s kept you at Pearl — and what’s exciting about the future?
There’s always a lot of work to be done, and I mean that in the best way. I’ve been underutilized in past roles — here, that’s never been the case. I feel trusted to use good judgment, to move work forward, and to try new methods even if they’re outside my comfort zone. There’s room to experiment and improve without fear of blame if something doesn’t go perfectly.
That trust, and the belief that my work matters, is what’s kept me engaged.
Where do you fit in the bigger picture of how we support customers?
Right now I’m working on how we turn product signals into actual calls to action. So when our platform identifies something — like a patient-level opportunity — what do we then ask the customer to do?
I’m not setting that strategy, but I’m building the system that turns it into reality. That means creating the processes that get the data from the product into the right systems so we can notify customers, tell them what actions to take, and track how successful those actions are. I’m building the machine that runs those interactions.
Do you feel like people always see that work?
Not at all. A lot of operations work is invisible by design. When it’s running well, you don’t even know we’re there. We keep things moving, keep balls in the air, and make sure everything fits together. With a good ops person, you don’t always see what they’re doing — but that’s the point.
What’s one work habit or tool you swear by?
Momentum. I always start with something small and easy — a five-minute task, just to get going. I’m a big list person. Checking things off helps clear my brain and build energy for the bigger items.
Finally, do you have any unusual hobbies?
I’m actually a flying trapeze artist and instructor outside of work. I’ve been teaching for over 13 years — and it’s taught me a lot about how to coach and support people. Knowing how to speak to someone, how to meet them where they are, and how to give feedback that moves them forward — that translates into the corporate world more than you’d think.
Whether she’s streamlining a customer workflow or flying through the air after hours, Zane is someone who thrives in motion. She brings structure, clarity, and a calm sense of purpose to even the most complex challenges — and she makes it all look easy.
