Pearl Health continues to build towards a future where providers can more easily benefit from the value they create for the healthcare system every day by doing what’s right for their patients. New Team Member Bios: October & November 2021

Kelly Evans – Director of Product Partnerships & Operations

Kelly is the Director of Product Partnerships and Operations at Pearl Health. She was previously at Clover Health, where she managed the Strategic Technologies Portfolio of programs for the organization. While at Clover, she led several system implementations and focused on optimizations of the technology ecosystem.

Prior to Clover, Kelly held a number of roles at Arcadia.io, from implementation and account management, to sales engineer. She spent the early part of her career in healthcare consulting, gaining exposure to care delivery systems, safety net hospitals, and government application programs. These experiences ignited her passion for public health and health policy, and her interest in helping physicians better serve patients. 

Kelly holds a Master of Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University.

Russell Fowles – Head of Technical Operations & Security

Russell Fowles is Head of Technical Operations & Security at Pearl Health. Russell comes to Pearl with expertise in building and scaling security-focused Technical Operations teams from the ground up at high growth companies. He has over a decade of experience in his field and is passionate about securing technical infrastructure in a way that does not impede innovation. 

Prior to Pearl, Russell was Head of Technical Operations at TrialSpark. As the first Technical Operations team member, he laid the foundation for long term growth through the deployment of scalable systems, automation, and workflows. Before joining TrialSpark, Russell was an early employee at Oscar, where he served as the first Director of Information Technology. Other previous experience includes Spotify and adMarketplace where he worked in similar roles.

Although they’ve seen better days, Russell is a die-hard fan of the University of South Carolina football team. A native South Carolinian, Russell moved to New York City a little over a decade ago. He currently resides in Park Slope with his wife and two sons and can usually be found chasing the older one on his scooter in Prospect Park.

Tim Kholad – Software Engineer

Tim Kholad is Software Engineer at Pearl Health. Prior to joining Pearl, Tim worked for a consultancy agency based in Los Angeles, where he was building test-driven web and mobile application for an AI-powered customer support company.

Tim holds a BA in Spanish and Computational Lingustics from the Minsk State Linguistics University.

Alana Levy – Senior Product Manager

Alana Levy is a Senior Product Manager at Pearl Health. Prior to joining Pearl, Alana spent six years at Flatiron Health, working in Product Operations, Program Management, and Sales. She was responsible for developing and launching oncology software products that helped deliver quality care to cancer patients, and closed several of Flatiron’s largest software deals with community oncology practices around the country.

Alana was previously on the founding team of Crediyo, a healthcare technology startup that aimed to simplify the financial experience for patients and improve payment outcomes for providers. Prior to Crediyo, Alana served as a Sales Consultant at Oscar Health.

Alana holds an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, an MPH from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA from Cornell University. A former Division I track and field athlete, she now runs competitively for Brooklyn Track Club’s Performance Team and is hoping to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Team Trials in the marathon.

Michael Monsegur – Head of DCE Partnerships & Operations

Michael Monsegur is Head of DCE Partnerships and Operations at Pearl Health. Prior to joining Pearl, Michael served as the Senior Director of the Medicare ACO Programs at Steward Health Care Network where he ran the largest MSSP in the country. His value-based care experience stems from achieving improved quality outcomes at lower costs for over 160,000 Medicare FFS patients annually. Prior to MSSP, he managed Steward’s other CMS risk models, most notably the NGACO and BPCIA. Prior to Steward, he worked at a boutique healthcare management consulting firm as an analyst and program manager.

Michael received his B.A. in Economics and his M.B.A. in Healthcare Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Stephen Porter – Vice President of Recruiting

Stephen is Vice President of Recruiting at Pearl Health. He previously led Talent Acquisition and HR Service Delivery at VillageMD, where he oversaw the hiring of over 1000 new employees across Technology, Clinical, and Corporate departments.

Prior to VillageMD, Stephen worked at FTD Companies where he managed technical recruitment, and at CyberCoders where he supported technology startups on the agency side as an Executive Recruiter.

Stephen received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters Degree from California Institute of the Arts, and most recently a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University.

Lauren Prial – Head of Network Operations

Lauren Prial is Head of Network Operations at Pearl Health.

Prior to joining Pearl, Lauren was at Oscar Health where she held a number of strategy and operations leadership roles, including building Oscar’s Payment Integrity program from the ground-up. Most recently, Lauren led strategy, special projects, and business operations for Oscar’s Member Programs (Virtual Care, Population Health, Pharmacy, and Behavioral Health). She is passionate about tackling high-impact problems, building new things, and developing people. 

Outside of work, Lauren loves to cook, cycle, and spend time with her husband and their energetic dog, Benji.

Lauren received her B.A. in English with a minor in History from the University of Virginia.

Sam Wang – Senior Data Engineer

Samuel is Senior Data Engineer at Pearl Health. He was previously a data engineer at IBM Canada, where he helped to build data pipelines to integrate customer and product usage data to provide a 360 view of the customers. Prior to IBM Canada, Samuel worked as data engineer at Toronto Star, and Scotiabank. These data engineering experiences in different industries have given Samuel exposure to different types of data, as well as different data stacks, from Hadoop to data warehouse on cloud, and DevOps tools like Kubernetes, Docker and Jenkins.

Samuel received both his Bachelors of Applied Science and Masters of Engineering at the University of Toronto.
