The goal of every primary care physician should be prevention and wellness of the individual patients — and the population in general.
Dr. Michael Odibo
Physician & Owner, Odibo Medical Group
Dr. Michael Odibo is an internal medicine specialist practicing family medicine for over 25 years. Dr. Odibo holds a degree in microbiology and attended medical school in Nigeria. Upon arriving in the United States, Dr. Odibo completed his residency for internal medicine at Meharry Medical College in Tennessee. Dr. Odibo is a very passionate solo physician managing Odibo Medical Group, a practice he founded in 2015 and based in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Dr. Odibo and his team believe in the importance of retaining their autonomy and independence as a physician-owned primary care practice. This enables Odibo Medical Group to focus on providing exceptional care with quality outcomes for their patients while reducing costs to their patients and to the overall healthcare system. Dr. Odibo cares deeply for his patients, offering them his full attention and ensuring that they have a good understanding of their treatment plans as well as the interpersonal problems that may play a role in their condition. He and his team believe in providing care using a holistic approach, treating each and every patient “as a king” when they are under his care.
In addition to providing care for his patients and running his practice, Dr. Odibo also serves as Medical Director for Coast Horizons, a substance abuse treatment facility in the area. During his time working in intensive care units in America’s southeast, Dr. Odibo witnessed firsthand how the opioid abuse epidemic in the United States has negatively impacted so many people. In addition, he became aware of the prevalence of unnecessary hospital readmissions — often for conditions that could have been treated in a primary care setting. These factors drive much of Dr. Odibo’s work in treating substance abuse victims and working with his patients proactively to prevent costly medical expenses.
