The world of healthcare is dynamic and often turbulent. 2023 was no exception and it proved to be a pivotal year for Pearl Health. We scaled our network over 20 times its size at the end of 2022, secured $75 million in an oversubscribed funding round led by top investors, formed a strategic partnership with Walgreens, and refined our systematic approach to healthcare. A key pillar of this evolution was the significant growth of our team, expanding from 60 to 100 members, accompanied by internal promotions and the reinforcement of our commitment to a culture of continuous development. Last year was not just about growth, it was a strategic investment in the shaping of future leadership at Pearl Health.
New Talent: Building on Our Values
At Pearl Health, we attribute our success to the collective strength of our team and the culture we’re building. Our team, now at more than 100 strong, comprises talented and dedicated individuals united by a shared vision to transform healthcare. This growth was intentional — a strategic move aimed at enhancing our capabilities and to help position ourselves for sustained success in the future. Our aim was to assemble a diverse, multidisciplinary team to take on the complex challenges inherent in healthcare and set the stage for innovation and progress in 2024.
Why did we grow?
This expansion from 60 to 100 employees was driven by our commitment to cultivating a team with diverse backgrounds and expertise, positioning us as pioneers in healthcare innovation. By strategically restructuring and augmenting our data science teams, we established and formalized quantitative frameworks to address the intricate challenge of efficiently delivering high-quality healthcare and achieving financial success in CMS’s value-based care programs. Simultaneously, we bolstered our engineering teams with new leadership aimed at developing solutions that uniquely address tangible issues experienced by our provider partners and their staff. To enhance our ability to identify actionable opportunities and design effective interventions, we welcomed clinical leaders to fortify our Clinical Strategy. Introducing leaders across these and other functions marked a pivotal step in spearheading our entry into new lines of business within CMS’s broader spectrum of value-based care programs.

Promotions: Nurturing Internal Talent
Beyond our strategic hiring, we’re building a culture that supports ongoing career development and progression. This commitment extends beyond just hiring externally, as we encourage our team members to explore new opportunities and share their skills across departments. This approach not only strengthens our culture but also propels our performance, paving the way for a vibrant and collaborative future.
Why the focus on internal progression?
Investing in the growth of our internal talent and fostering a culture of cross-functional collaboration is not just about enhancing our team’s expertise — it’s about enabling a dynamic, mission-driven, and innovative workplace. This commitment empowers our team members to acquire new skills, stay at the forefront of industry advancements, and adapt seamlessly to evolving challenges. A more skilled and engaged workforce is key to increasing productivity, improving employee satisfaction, and elevating the impact of the services we provide to our partners and their patients. This strategic focus not only positions us to attract top talent through strong leadership and a culture of innovation, but lays the foundation for a resilient and adaptive organization. As we look toward 2024 and beyond, we firmly believe this approach has already — and will continue to — unlock new possibilities for our team, our provider partners, and the broader healthcare landscape.
